Detour Gold Reports Drill Results from its Detour Lake Gold Project in Ontario

Thursday, Aug 20, 2009

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire) - Detour Gold Corporation (TSX:DGC) ("Detour Gold" or the "Company") is pleased to report assay results for an additional 35 holes totaling 16,655 metres (including 9 holes abandoned for 2,451 metres) from its 2009 infill diamond drilling program at the Detour Lake project in northern Ontario. Thus far in 2009, the Company has completed 63,557 metres of drilling of the budgeted 95,000 metres to complete the 40 metre by 40 metre drill spacing up to section 18,000E (west end of Calcite Zone). Six drill rigs are currently active on site.

The Company obtained encouraging results from seven drill holes in the Calcite Zone. The best intercepts were encountered on section 18,500E (within the current US$700 pit shell used for the mineral resource estimate of July 2008), with 2.26 g/t (uncut) or 2.12 g/t (cut) over 86 metres in hole DG-09-687 and 2.36 g/t (uncut) or 2.11 g/t (cut) over 75 metres in hole DG-09-691.

In the centre of the deposit (from 18,840E to 19,160E, referred to as the Gap Zone), ten of the 12 holes (including one wedge) that tested the hanging wall zone up to 600 metres returned isolated intersections outside of the 200 to 300 metre mineralized corridor. In the core of the mineralized corridor, hole DG-09-670 intersected 4.56 g/t (uncut) or 3.15 g/t (cut) over 27.2 metres at a vertical depth of approximately 470 metres.

Results from nine infill holes completed west of the former open pit continued to show good continuity of the gold mineralization in the core of the mineralized corridor. Of significance, holes DG-09-692 and DG-09-692 A intersected 1.60 g/t (uncut) or 0.91 g/t (cut) over 39.3 metres and 1.51 g/t over 26.8 metres, respectively, on section 19,560E. Both holes hit the same underground working (stope) at bottom of the mineralized intercept. Hole DG-09-676 on section 19,360E intersected 2.29 g/t over 35.0 metres.

Gold mineralization was intersected in six of the seven holes targeting the Footwall Zone of the Sunday Lake Deformation Zone (SLDZ) within the current US$700 pit shell. Several holes hit underground workings. Significant intersections included 2.98 g/t over 12.0 metres in hole DG-09-680 on section 19,880E and 1.11 g/t over 37.0 metres in hole DG-09-678 on section 19,800E.
